The current maximum dependence on information technology by different industries also requires leaders who know how to plan and manage organizational IT resources efficiently, as well as intelligent business leaders who can imagine strategic use of IT. Managing information on information on information requires planning, buildings and operations that are very adequate, computer infrastructure and communication, “utility” information, so managers and other employees have the right information available as needed, anytime and anywhere. Just as mobile users hope to send and receive calls without “falling” by the network, computer users expect the computer to be and run, and the network is available and fast, so they can access the application and software data quickly and easily.
Organizations with high operational dependence on IT systems are very dependent on that if the information system fails for a while, or online response time exceeds a few seconds, dramatically impacts on the time of delivery. When customer transactions cannot be processed, and suppliers cannot accept orders for materials, business income suffers. Many famous CEOs argue that the current role of IT management is to manage the cost and vulnerability of “utility” computing – data centers and networks that provide access to data and business applications. However, while this is the role of critical IT management, sometimes outsourcing to IT vendors, it’s not the only one.
Managing information technology practices also requires identifying what new technology will be invested and how specifically obtain this new IT solution to improve the way certain companies do business. Therefore, efficient technical resource management not only requires skilled IT managers and IT professionals – human resource assets – but also active participation by business managers as captured by third IT assets: business relationship assets / IT.
Managing people’s resources for each business function requires attention to recruiting, developing, and maintaining the best talents available. At present there is a high demand not only for IT personnel with special technology skills but also for personnel who have both technology skills coupled with business knowledge and interpersonal skills. Business analyst and the role of system analysts require personnel who can understand the needs of workers in marketing, accounting, manufacturing, and other business functions, as well as knowledge of an industry (eg, financial services or health care). IT professionals who have business education, as well as technical skills, because it is especially in demand for this type of role. Position overlooking a business like this is also the most effective sourced by internal employees – not by company employees outsourcing or by temporary external personnel.
At this time, there are growing concerns about whether the supply of college graduates and new universities with departments related to it will be lower than demand for incoming workers, domestic IT workers. Although companies in developed countries increasingly utilize labor in less developed countries to take advantage of lower labor costs for software programming tasks in particular, IT professionals are still critically needed to do the role of “in-house ” the important one.
